Phase I ESAs are now required by many lending institutions and organizations such as CMHC, prior to providing mortgages on/or insurance for mortgages on real property. In response to the on-going developments in this area, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) has developed a new Canadian guideline for Phase I ESAs. Phase I I and screening documents are currently underway with representatives from the AESAC Advisory Board being part of this committee, and in the forefront of environmental developments in Canada.

AESAC has been officially recognized by Canada’s major stakeholders (leading business, professional and government organizations) in conjunction with the CICA (Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants) initiative and given the mandate to continue to certify members in accordance with the CSA guidelines.

AESAC’S training programs include a one day Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Seminar, and a 2 day intensive Phase l training course which incorporates the CSA Z768 Guideline. Both programs include “step by step” course manuals and end with a case study and/or examination. Courses are scheduled throughout the year across Canada.
